About The Film Music Guild

Universities are great for teaching students skill sets; however, students are frequently unprepared upon graduation to find a job in their industry. No one has taught them to network or given them opportunities for "real world" experience.

While many film students realize the crucial role of music in visual storytelling, few of them have been educated on the specific details of how music functions in film, the business aspects of using original music, or the relationships between the director, producer, and composer. Classes are rarely taught on the subject, and film students frequently find themselves without the necessary tools and vocabulary to tell their story, or how to efficiently interface with composers. It was in an effort to address these issues that the Film Music Guild was founded.
